Areas of Experience

Borehole Image and Core Specialists staff have worked on a wide variety of projects from a diverse set of reservoirs. Hover your mouse over a region to read more about our work in that area.
UK North Sea & Norway

Extensive experience in both core and borehole image analysis has been gained over this region. BHICS staff have undertaken single well and field wide, structural and sedimentological studies at a variety of stratigraphic levels and in a diverse range of depositional environments.

North Africa

A variety of structural and sedimentological studies have been undertaken in Algeria, Libya, Egypt and Morocco including core, borehole image analysis and field wide exploration.

Europe & Russia

Structural and sedimentological studies have been undertaken from Offshore Ireland, The Netherlands, Bulgaria, Poland, Romania and Spain. Additionally, BHICS staff have also undertaken borehole image a wide rage of borehole image studies in Azerbaijan and Sakhalin Island.

BHICS staff have extensive experience in the interpretation of borehole images from basement reservoirs in Yemen. In addition, projects have been undertaken in carbonate and clastic depositional systems of Abu Dhabi, Iran, Iraq, Oman, Yemen and Qatar.

Asia & Australasia

BHICS staff have undertaken a variety of projects including structural and sedimentological studies from offshore India, Vietnam and Western Australia. In addition, field-wide exploration projects have been undertaken in onshore Pakistan.

Africa

Wide-ranging experience in both core and borehole image analysis which includes single and multi-well studies from Ghana, Gabon, Congo, Ivory Coast, Mauritania Senegal and Uganda.

South America

Core and borehole image analysis has been undertaken in clastics of French Guiana, Venezuela and Guyana. In addition, BHICS have extensive experience in sub-salt carbonate depositional systems of the Santos Basin, offshore Brazil.

North America

BHICS staff have extensive experience in the structural and sedimentological interpretation of borehole images from the Gulf of Mexico including Mad Dog, Neptune, Thunderhorse, Shenzi, Pony, Puma and Knotty Head Fields. Studies have also been undertaken in play fairway mapping and reservoir characterisation.

Testimonials

  • Prolog Geoscience provided us with a high quality service with very quick turnaround times. Excellent communication was maintained with various team members throughout the project ensuring a fully integrated final product with data displayed in a concise and most importantly, understandable format. Their highly experienced and specialised knowledge has lead to an enhanced understanding of our data set.

  • Wildcat provided us with a high quality technical service for azimuthal density image processing and interpretation for back to back development wells. The work was tailored to our requirements and delivered in a timely manner. Wildcat staff were proactive in engaging with us and understanding our requirements for quick turnaround work with specific deliverables. I would definitely recommend them to provide an efficient and competent service.

  • Dove Energy has worked with Wildcat Geoscience on a number of projects, both in Yemen Block 53 and El Fahs, Tunisia. Wildcat have provided excellent quick turnaround reporting on detailed petrographic analysis of sediment samples collected from electric submersible pumps. Operationally this has been critical for determining cause of failure as soon as possible and determining the source. In Tunisia, Wildcat provided detailed structural analysis on fractures, faults and stress regimes on an exploration well that contributed to decision-making on the next phase of field development. Wildcat consistently provide a very high standard of work in a timely and well-presented manner.

  • Prolog have provided us with consistent analysis and interpretations that now form part of a sub-regional Ghanaian sedimentary framework. We work with Marguerite to integrate core observations with RCA and image log data. Prolog provide a quick turnaround of excellent quality descriptions, digital copies and clear reports. Marguerite leads detailed and informative core walkthroughs that are well received by our own multi-disciplinary teams and non-operating partners.

  • Gulf Keystone Petroleum has worked closely with the BHICS team on the Shaikan and Sheikh Adi fields in Kurdistan, Northern Iraq. Their carbonate sedimentology and fracture logging in cores have been invaluable during our appraisal and early field development, with the findings integrated into field-wide depositional models and continuing work on diagenesis and reservoir quality. Their reporting has been impressive, concise, within agreed timescales and most importantly fit for purpose.   We jointly presented a poster with BHICS at the Zagros Exploration Conference hosted by the Geological Society of London in 2013 and the fantastic delegate response is testament to their fine work.

  • The team from BHICS have worked extensively with Maersk Oil UK on a tight chalk field in the UK CNS. The have evaluated and delivered a very comprehensive core study where integrated image and core logging significantly have improved our understanding of the facies, fractures and reservoir quality. BHICS delivered on time a high quality report and demonstrated through their experience and interaction with the Maersk Oil team a very efficient working style allowing the project to quickly progress.
